Alex is an Associate Data Scientist who handles surveys, modeling, and political projects. He is our in-house AB/EV expert, assisting in tracking returns as they come in and matching individuals to our modeling universes. Principally, his work is done in Python, SQL, and R, as well as our in-house tools.
A political scientist by training, he received a Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and did his undergraduate work at the University of Miami. Alex uses statistical methods to model political questions. His academic focus is on elections, and has also written on Congress, CODELs, and conspiratorial beliefs.
Alex is from Miami, Florida and spent 21 years living there before deciding the next logical geographic step was Madison, Wisconsin. Before joining the Øptimus team, Alex taught American Politics to undergraduate students at UW. In his spare time, he is an aviation enthusiast and travels the world in pursuit of a place as nice as his hometown (no luck yet).
